Tips to building a no-code product with hard to find automation in Zapier

Sending text messages is expensive. I'd recommend that before you spend the time and energy to create something, how can you verify that someone would want to receive a text message and also who would pay for this service? Is it tied to any urgent message or way to collect payment?

Creating this product was a lot easier when I realized the workflow can be entirely created in Zapier. Do not be intimidated by using Twilio. It is very easy to use when integrated with Zapier.

What did I learn:

There is a massive underutilized value in Zapier that I don't think a lot of Makers realize. Using the Built-in Apps by Zapier gives you superpowers. They are crazy hard to discover because they are hidden.

Some of them that I used in this app are:
1. Paths
2. Timer

There are many more like formatting, code, url shortener, lead scoring, email, filter, digest, weather, webhooks and so many more.

These were the key to building my workflow and business logic creating this product. It was super simple.I am still blown away by it. And that is why I am so excited to share about no-code.

1. No-code tool feature: Zapier - The key thing that I learned when making this stack, is first getting Twilio set up was easy. I thought originally that I was going to have to build all the logic for sending personalized tweets within Twilio. However, then I discovered a Zap called "path" within Zapier. This was a gamechanger for me. I could send users on two different paths depending on their goals. It was a good personalization element that added value to my project.

2. No-code tool feature: Zapier - Additionally, I was able to use the "delay" function in Zapier to coordinate when the user would receive their next text message. This combined with the information I asked for in Typeform, I was able to design personalized messages within Zapier that sent through Twilio.

3. Product Strategy: Creating a messaging app or some type of product or service within a messaging application. Unless you have a direct use case for sending text messages, I would not recommend starting here for your product or service. It is too closed off and there isn't a good feedback loop and there is no good viral loop. If you create an awesome experience through text, who is that person going to share it with? Maybe they will screen grab and share or send to a friend. But the key to starting out is getting distribution and word of mouth spread. If possible I would recommend creating a service that goes through Facebook messenger, or Whatsapp or use Landbot.io as some type of chat experience. The reason is distribution. It's hard to make this type of product grow, its expensive and the use cases are slim unless you are a business that regularly transacts with customers and uses phone number as part of that transaction.
