The initial rollout of the app took less than 2 days to get out. The spreadsheet of resources took about 1 hr to get the structure setup, and then Ryann worked really hard to enter the data from her contacts. The net result is that getting the app and data structure setup was not very time consuming and was the main reason I stayed with GlideApps and not try to go to something like Adalo.

Building a no-code app in Glide and launching quickly

Maker Insight:

The initial rollout of the app took less than 2 days to get out. The spreadsheet of resources took about 1 hr to get the structure setup, and then Ryann worked really hard to enter the data from her contacts. The net result is that getting the app and data structure setup was not very time consuming and was the main reason I stayed with GlideApps and not try to go to something like Adalo.

What did I learn:

1. Product strategy - ship fast with Glide
"The initial rollout of the app took less than 2 days to get out. " A global pandemic starts, what do you do?
A. Run away to the mountains
B. Go on a cruise
C. Make a no-code app packed full of "helpful resources to stay healthy, informed and safe"?

Ryann and her co-founder Charles Reed did #3 to help people in a time of need. What I love about their story is that they were able to execute so quickly. via no-code using Glide Apps they were able to deploy in a matter of days a resource of helpful information to stay informed during the pandemic.

People ask why do I think no-code is starting to take off, I believe because of opportunities like this that give you such an advantage to make something are incredible examples of how no-code is enabling people to rise to the challenges of our day.

2. Glide product feature - report a bug feature
A major part of building lean is iterating on feedback. Creating a fast feedback loop is essential for your survival as a startup and important for creating a side project. Glide has a great feature that allows you to fill out a form. I thought a great example of this is how they used it as a way to report a problem with the app. The way it works:

1. They inserted a button on the page
2. When tapped, a form takes over the screen
3. You can insert single select button to categorize the type of problem "category" ,"technical issue" and "other" this is critical in allowing Ryann and Charles to triage any issues that come in. You could build additional automated triggers off this information easily from your glide sheet. By triggering a zapier action to fire if a user selects "technical issue" and then take that information and sends you an email or slack notification that there is an issue. All automated.
4. there are several other types of options you can select to put into the form.

Once a user submits that information stores in a page in your google sheet.

3. Glide product feature - Users add a resource button - this can allow your app to feel dynamic. Depending on your preference you can have any information submitted by a user added to a sheet and then you can manually add it. Or if you want have that information sent to a google sheet within your app that feeds a page in your app. I used this for a Glide app that I created by anytime a user submitted something that information automatically posted and displayed in real time to the application.
